BEFORE IT WAS
HAUNTED,
IT WAS HISTORY.

REMEMBERED BY THE NORTHSHORE

A LANDMARK.
A “MYSTERIOUS PLACE.”

St. Gertrude’s was also remembered by the people who grew up around it.

WYES/PBS’s Northshore Stories identifies the convent as a landmark along Highway 25 between Covington and Folsom — a place with both religious and secular significance in the surrounding community.

One local resident interviewed for the program remembered St. Gertrude’s as a “mysterious place” and recalled that his family, like others in the area, used laundry services operated by the nuns.

“A mysterious place.”
